Dr. Widiastuti Setyaningsih, S.T.P., M.Sc., a faculty member of the Department of Food Science and Agricultural Products Technology (TPHP) at Universitas Gadjah Mada, has once again achieved international recognition. She has been selected as an awardee of the 2025 Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award, a prestigious honor bestowed upon leading researchers in Asia whose work advances sustainable innovation and delivers meaningful impact to society.
Dr. Setyaningsih received the Encouragement Award for her research titled “Green Analytical Methods for Rapid Assessment of Food Safety, Authenticity, and Functional Quality in Diverse Food System.” Her study introduces a next-generation analytical approach that enables food evaluation to be conducted more efficiently, rapidly, and with a reduced environmental footprint. The methods she developed enhance the accuracy of food safety and authenticity assessments while strengthening quality monitoring across a wide range of contemporary food systems.
This accomplishment not only brings pride to the Department of TPHP at UGM, but also illustrates the transformative power of research that is rigorous, innovative, and purpose-driven. Dr. Setyaningsih’s contributions serve as a powerful reminder of the role scientific inquiry plays in advancing healthier and more resilient food systems. Her achievement is expected to inspire fellow researchers and students to pursue impactful scholarship and to continue strengthening collective efforts toward a safer and higher-quality global food landscape.
