Three students from the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology (TPHP), Universitas Gadjah Mada, participated in the SAPA Kampus Batch 8 Program organized by the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM RI) from February to June 2026. The students were Marcelina Eka Destia, Muhammad Zahran Ammar, and Ni Putu Ayu Nila Anggreni, all members of the TPHP class of 2022.
SAPA Kampus Berdampak, previously known as Pangan Aman Goes to Campus, is designed to prepare university students to serve as Food Safety Facilitators. Through the program, participants develop the competencies needed to assist processed-food micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in meeting food safety standards and implementing Good Manufacturing Practices for Processed Food, locally known as CPPOB.
The program began with a series of training sessions held from February to March 2026. During this stage, participants received instruction on food safety, processed-food regulations, CPPOB implementation, and approaches to assisting MSEs. The training equipped the students with the knowledge and practical skills needed before beginning their field assignments.
From April to June 2026, participants completed internships and provided direct assistance to processed-food MSEs under the supervision of local BPOM offices. The students helped business owners evaluate their production processes and prepare the documentation required for CPPOB implementation.
The program enabled the students to apply the knowledge gained through their coursework and training in real-world settings. In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of food production at the MSE level, they developed their communication skills, learned to identify food safety issues, and provided recommendations tailored to the needs and conditions of each business.
Marcelina Eka Destia said that the SAPA Kampus Program gave her an opportunity to apply her food safety knowledge directly through assisting processed-food enterprises.
“The most memorable experience was helping an MSE implement CPPOB until it successfully obtained a BPOM MD marketing authorization. This program was highly relevant to my interest in food safety and quality assurance,” Marcelina said.
At the conclusion of the program, all three TPHP UGM students received awards. Marcelina Eka Destia was recognized among the Top Three Best Videos of the SAPA Kampus Batch 8 Program and ranked first for the Highest Final Assessment Score. Muhammad Zahran Ammar was named Best Student of SAPA Kampus Batch 8 and ranked second for the Highest Final Assessment Score. Meanwhile, Ni Putu Ayu Nila Anggreni received the Best Student in Class award.
Their participation and achievements demonstrate the ability of TPHP UGM students to integrate academic knowledge with community-based assistance. Through the SAPA Kampus Program, the students not only gained valuable professional experience but also contributed to strengthening food safety awareness and practices among processed-food micro and small enterprises in Indonesia.
