Students from the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology (TPHP), Universitas Gadjah Mada, have once again distinguished themselves on the national stage. Felicia Jeanete Adelyn and Brilliant Christalia Anjani, both from the Class of 2023, secured First Place in the Student Track of the MAJU:ON Hackathon 2025, held on Friday (Nov 7) at The Ritz-Carlton Mega Kuningan, Jakarta.
Competing as part of Team MycoMarine (Seathera)—a multidisciplinary group comprising students from TPHP, the Faculty of Agriculture, and the Vocational School—the team proposed an innovative mycelium-based packaging developed from agricultural waste and invasive plants. Designed as an environmentally responsible alternative to styrofoam for transporting live fish, the innovation offers a sustainable pathway to reducing plastic and microplastic pollution in aquatic environments. The concept also creates added value from underutilized agricultural residues, supporting more efficient production practices and contributing to global efforts toward responsible consumption and production.
Over the two-day program organized by UD IMPACT, participants engaged in speaker sessions and coaching workshops to refine their pitch decks. On the second day, Felicia and Brilliant delivered their final presentation before a panel of judges alongside 16 teams representing leading universities from across Indonesia.
Reflecting on the experience, Brilliant Christalia Anjani shared,
“The entire competition was incredibly impressive and fulfilling. Beyond the achievement itself, we learned so much about building a sustainable business from the speakers and the coaches’ insights. We hope our idea can be realized effectively so that its intended impact can be achieved.”
This accomplishment highlights the commitment of TPHP UGM students to advancing science-driven, innovative solutions that address environmental challenges and promote more sustainable industrial practices.
