The Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology (TPHP) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized an Emergency Response Training in collaboration with the Indonesian Health Emergency Volunteer Community (KREKI) on Saturday, May 24. Held at the Kamarinjani-Soenjoto Auditorium, Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM, the training was attended by students, faculty members, and educational staff—the program aimed to enhance campus-wide preparedness for emergencies.

The event was officially opened with remarks from Vincentia Lamdagati Kirana, Secretary-General of the TPHP Student Association; Prof. Dr. Ir. Tyas Utama, M.Sc., Head of the TPHP Department; and Prof. Dr. Ir. Eni Harmayani, M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, who also conducted the symbolic opening of the event. A welcome speech was also delivered by dr. Febrian Naufaldi, Sp.An-TI, representing KREKI Yogyakarta.

The training was divided into two main sessions: theory and practice. The theoretical session began with an Introduction to Emergency First Aid delivered by Sutono, followed by Community Emergency Education presented by the Anesthesiology Team. Participants also received training on the Management of Wounds, Bleeding, and Fractures, led by dr. Agung Widianto, Sp. B-KBD, and continued with Everyday Medical Emergencies and Basic Life Support, presented by dr. Pinter Hartono, M.M, Sp.An-TI, Subsp.An.O(K).

After a break for lunch, prayer, and rest, the event resumed with a hands-on practical session led by the KREKI DIY instructor team. Participants practiced Basic Life Support (BLS) simulations, bandaging and splinting techniques, and victim evacuation using stretchers.

This training is designed to foster awareness and basic skills in emergency response among members of the academic community, particularly in handling unexpected medical emergencies that can occur at any time and in any location. Additionally, the activity supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by promoting campus preparedness and safety for all.
