Student Activities: Virtual Food Exhibition TPHP 2019

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, the Practicum of Product Development and Process Technology of the Department of Food and Agricultural Products Technology UGM held a Virtual Food Exhibition from 13.30 – 17.10 WIB. The activity carried out through the Zoom Meeting was guided by Salsabila Ayu Syafiqa and Anang Wahif Fatkhurrochman as the host.

Virtual Food Exhibition is a series of activities in the Practicum of Product Development and Process Technology. In this practicum, students are formed into several groups, then each group is asked to make products that can be consumed and marketed at the exhibition. The products produced can be new products that have not been produced by other parties or are innovations from existing products. The products produced must also pay attention to their nutritional value so that they are suitable for consumption. This exhibition was attended by TPHP 2019 students as one of the requirements for completing assignment of the Practicum of Product Development and Process Technology. read more

Guest Lecture on Food Industry Sanitation: Application of Sanitation in the Food Industry

The Food Industry Sanitation course held a guest lecture on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 11.00 – 13.00 WIB. This guest lecture carries the topic of the Application of Sanitation in the Food Industry with the speaker, Fitri Asih Victoria, S.T.P. as Assistant Operation Manager of PT. Boga Makmur Wijaya and guided by Prof. Dr. Ir. Tyas Utami, M.Sc. as moderator.

A restaurant is a place that is organized commercially to provide good service to guests in the form of food and drinks. Restaurants have their uniqueness, namely raw materials that have a short shelf life and there is direct interaction between suppliers (raw material sellers), sellers (restaurants), and buyers (customers). However, this uniqueness is also a challenge during a pandemic because it can increase the risk of Covid-19 transmission. read more

Guest Lecture on Flavor Technology: Flavor Trends in the Food Industry

The lecture of  Flavor Technology on the Department of Food and Agricultural Products Technology activity held a guest lecture on the topic of Flavor Creation. This guest lecture brought in a speaker, Dewi Triana Hardjantiningsih, who is the Scent Design Group Director, International Flavors & Fragrances Greater Asia Singapore. The guest lecture which took place on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 11:00 – 12:40 WIB was hosted by Dr. Ir. Supriyadi, M.Sc. and Dr. Manikharda, S.T.P., M.Agr.

Flavorists are often mistaken for food designers. Flavorist is a professional who develops new flavors using ingredients, such as individual flavor components (natural and synthetic), botanical extracts, and oils. Flavorists usually work in food and beverage companies. Meanwhile, a food designer is a food technologist who applies and optimizes the developed flavors in the final product. Food designers usually work as food technologists/scientists, chefs, or bakery specialists, and collaborate with sales, sensory and consumer insights, account managers, and flavorists. read more

On Monday, April 11, 2022, the Food Industry Sanitation course of TPHP UGM held a guest lecture with the topic “Application of Sanitation in the Dairy Industry”. This guest lecture was presented by Aditya Putra Nugraha, S.T.P., who is the Plant Quality Manager of Jogja Factory PT Sarihusada General Mahardika. The guest lecture which took place at 11:00 – 13:00 WIB was hosted by Rachma Wikandari, S.T.P., M.Biotech, Ph.D.

Cleaning is the process of cleaning or freeing a surface from all dirt or other substances without affecting or damaging the surface to be cleaned. The purpose of the cleaning process is to clean the surface of the tool or machine from dirt and contamination because this will directly affect food quality. read more

The guest lecture which took place on Monday, April 11, 2021, at 09.00-11.00 WIB was hosted by Rachma Wikandari, S.T.P., M.Biotech, Ph.D.

Business in the field of culinary or food can bring opportunities because food is a primary need in life. Anyone and anytime, food will always be needed. In addition, everyone’s busy schedule makes many people choose to buy ready-made food. read more

Scientific Article Competition “Advancing Innovation and the Role of the Young Generation in Agriculture”

The Department congratulates the TPHP UGM team for their achievement in the Scientific Article Competition with the theme “Advancing Innovation and the Role of the Young Generation in Agriculture”.

This Scientific Article Competition is part of AgIR – Advancing Innovations and Resilience in Agriculture Youth which is organized in collaboration with the Department of Economics of IPB and Deakin University, and supported by the Australia Indonesia Institute Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Australia. The competition took place from September 8 to October 8, 2021, and the results were announced during the webinar “Youth, E-Commerce, and Creative Economy in Agriculture” on October 22, 2021. read more

Community Service: Provision, Calculation of Nutritional Value, and Packaging of Complementary Foods for Breastfeeding (MP-ASI)

On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, the Department of Food and Agricultural Products Technology of FTP UGM held a community service activity with the topic “Provision, Calculation of Nutritional Value, and Packaging of Complementary Foods (MP-ASI)” for training activities for posyandu cadres in Candibinangun Village, Pakem District. This activity was guided by Dr. Dwi Larasatie Nur Fibri, S.T.P., M.Sc., TPHP UGM lecturer,, and assisted by 2 TPHP UGM students from 2018, namely Yuniar Wika and Rizky Alifiansyah. This service was carried out in a hybrid manner with students going directly to the field and online lecturers from campus to help answer questions from the participants. read more

National Food Quiz Bowl Competition 2021

The UGM TPHP Department congratulates the UGM TPHP team for their achievements in the National Food Quiz Bowl Competition 2021.

Food Quiz Bowl is a fast-paced competition organized by the Indonesian Food Care Student Association (HMPPI) and the Indonesian Food Technologist Association (PATPI). The Food Quiz Bowl is participated by delegates from each HMPPI commissariat spread throughout Indonesia. The competition was organized online and gradually from the regional to national level.

The UGM student team consisting of Bernadus Jason (TPHP 2020), Finessa Meutia Kamila (TPHP 2020), and Joselind Sienydea Salim (TPHP 2020) won second place with a score of 3350. Meanwhile, the first and third places were won by representatives from Bogor Agricultural University with scores of 3400 and 3100. read more
