The Department of Food Technology and Agricultural Products (TPHP), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), officially welcomed new postgraduate students for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year through an orientation program held on Thursday (February 5).
The orientation was attended by new students from the Master’s Program in Food Science and Technology (S2 ITP), the Master’s Program in Agricultural Product Technology (S2 THP), and the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science (S3 IP), with a total of 26 new students.
The Head of the TPHP Department, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tyas Utami, M.Sc., officially opened the event and delivered welcoming remarks to all newly admitted postgraduate students. The session was then followed by an introduction to the department and study program management teams.
The orientation was also attended by the department’s leadership and academic management team, including Dr. Dwi Larasatie Nur Fibri, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Secretary of the TPHP Department), Dr. Widiastuti Setyaningsih, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Head of the Master’s Program in Food Science and Technology), Rachma Wikandari, S.T.P., M.Biotech., Ph.D. (Head of the Master’s Program in Agricultural Product Technology), Prof. Dr. Ria Millati, S.T., M.T. (Head of the Doctoral Program in Food Science), Dr. Qurrotul A’yun, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Secretary of the Master’s Program in Food Science and Technology), and Dr. Arima Diah Setiowati, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Food Science).
The next session was led by Dr. Arima Diah Setiowati, S.T.P., M.Sc., who presented various academic support facilities, including an introduction to laboratories, faculty members and laboratory staff, research areas, and the department’s key facilities. Students also received information on academic development opportunities, such as student mobility programs with partner universities in Asia and Europe, as well as various international schemes including double degree programs, student exchange, and summer school programs.
The activity continued with curriculum presentations from each study program, delivered directly by the respective heads of the programs, as part of the introduction to the academic system and postgraduate learning structure.
Through this orientation program, new students are expected to adapt comprehensively to the academic environment of the TPHP Department, including the learning system, curriculum, laboratories, and academic support staff. This activity also serves as an initial step in preparing students to undertake their postgraduate studies effectively.
The TPHP Department hopes that the new students will carry out their studies successfully and be able to make meaningful contributions to the development of science, particularly in the fields of food and agricultural products, at both national and global levels.
