Coordination and Technical Discussion on F₀ Testing of Canned Fish Products with the Berau District Fisheries Office

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology at Universitas Gadjah Mada hosted a coordination and discussion session with the Fisheries Office of Berau District, East Kalimantan. The meeting took place in the TPHP Department Conference Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, UGM.

The event brought together representatives from both TPHP UGM and the Berau District Fisheries Office, highlighting a strong collaboration between academia and government in supporting innovation and the advancement of local food industries.

The primary focus of the meeting was the planned F₀ testing of several canned fish products developed by the Berau Fisheries Office. Through this collaborative initiative, TPHP UGM aims to help ensure that these products meet the required standards of food quality and safety. The ultimate goal is to enhance the value of local products and improve their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

This initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. By promoting quality assurance and testing, the collaboration aims to enhance production efficiency, minimise food waste, and foster more sustainable practices within the fisheries sector.

This coordination and discussion session marks a critical first step toward developing high-quality canned fish products from Berau. The synergy between TPHP UGM and the Berau Fisheries Office reflects a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the competitiveness of local products. With continued cooperation, the outcomes of the F₀ testing are expected to be implemented promptly, bringing tangible benefits to both local communities and the broader fisheries industry.
