Universitas Gadjah Mada held the UGM Update Bincang Prodi program on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, with speakers from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Industrial Technology, Food, and Agricultural Products Technology) and the Faculty of Agriculture (Agronomy, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, and Communication). The program, which took place at 13.00-14.00 WIB, was broadcast live via social media Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The speakers from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology were Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Soetiarso, M.Eng. (Agricultural Engineering), Mohammad Affan Fajar Falah, S.T.P., M.Agr., Ph.D. (Agricultural Industrial Technology), and Dr. Dwi Larasatie Nur Fibri, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Food and Agricultural Products Technology). Resource persons from the Faculty of Agriculture were Dr. Panji Sakti Basunanda, S.P., M.P. (Agronomy), Ir. Any Suryantini, M.M., Ph.D. (Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness), and Alia Bihrajihant Raya, S.P., M.P., Ph.D. (Agricultural Extension and Communication).
In the Department of Agricultural Engineering, the things learned are courses that support engineering science and how to apply these engineering sciences in agriculture. In the Department of Agricultural Industrial Technology, the things learned are management, engineering or engineering, and technology in the industry, especially the agricultural industry. In the Department of Food and Agricultural Products Technology, the things learned are the nature of food and agricultural products from post-harvest, processing using the latest technology to obtain value-added products, and having a long shelf life so that the product can be accepted by consumers.
In the Agronomy Study Program, the things learned are the science of plant cultivation, such as how to make superior plant cultivations, prepare good seeds, how cultivate them so that the products produced are of good quality, and how to manage and prepare harvest products so that they can be marketed. In the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, the things learned are economic science and agribusiness management and preparing human resources to manage activities from upstream to downstream in the agricultural sector. In the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, what is learned is to prepare students as community activists so that they can manage agricultural information content.
The profiles of graduates from the three departments of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology are careers in the food industry, government, world organizations, researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, and creative fields. Some have careers in start-ups. The profiles of graduates of three study programs from the Faculty of Agriculture are careers in the agriculture and seed industry, entrepreneurs, researchers, academics, agricultural extension workers, facilitators of non-governmental organizations, and start-ups. Some have careers in industries that support marketing and procurement of capital.
