The printed collection owned by the Gadjah Mada University Library consists of:
- Textbook
This collection covers all science subjects (from group 000=general to class 900=earth science), namely:

Textbooks are collections that are lent to members of the Library, commonly known as Circulation collections. At the Universitas Gadjah Mada Library, the textbooks collection is located in the Circulation Service Room, Building L5, 1st floor.
- Reference Book
Reference collections are reference collections, both general and specific reference collections, such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories, abstracts, indexes, manuals, annual reports, standards, patents, government publications such as laws, presidential decrees, ministerial decrees, government regulations, regional regulations, and many more. Reference collections are served for reading on the spot or photocopied. At the Gadjah Mada University Library, the Reference Collection is placed in the Reference Service, on the 1st floor of Building L6.
- Periodicals
Periodicals are a collection in the form of sources of information that are published regularly either daily, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annually. Examples of collections of periodicals include newspapers, magazines, journals, bulletins, and many more. As with reference collections, periodicals may only be read on the spot or photocopied. This collection is located at the Reference and Periodicals Service, Building L6, 1st floor, Gadjah Mada University Library.
The collection of periodical publications published at UGM is not only available in print format but also in digital form. We can do online searches for articles and their abstracts via http://repository.ugm.ac.id/. To get the full text, the users can contact the library or visit in person because full-text access is limited within the library’s local network.
- Final Task, Undergraduate Thesis, Thesis, and Dissertation
This collection is a collection of final assignments from Vocational School (D3), Undergraduate (S1), Graduate School (S2), and Doctoral Program (S3) students from all study programs at Gadjah Mada University. The entire collection is available in soft copy. The Final Task, Undergraduate Thesis, Thesis, and Dissertation can only be read on the spot via a computer network in this room. There are approximately 64 computers that can be used to access this collection. Readers are allowed to photocopy certain chapters or pages according to applicable regulations. Collections of Final Work, Thesis, Theses, and Dissertations are placed in the Thesis and Dissertation Service Building L5, 2nd floor of Universitas Gadjah Mada Library.
An online search for digital theses and dissertation catalogs and their abstracts can be done through the Thesis and Dissertation Catalog; however, access to full-text is currently still limited within the local library network.
- Scientific Work
The collection of scientific works at the UGM Library is in the form of a collection of research publications, seminar proceedings, Professor’s inaugural speeches, research reports, and so on. The Scientific Work Collection may only be read on the spot or photocopied. The Scientific Work Collection is served in the Scientific Work Service Room, Building L5, 3rd floor, Universitas Gadjah Mada Library. As with periodicals and theses/dissertations collections, collections of scientific works are also available in digital form which the public can access in full text through the UGM Repository.
- World Bank Collection
The World Bank collection comes from a partnership between Universitas Gadjah Mada and the World Bank, of Jakarta. Recent publications received from World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC. The World Bank collection consists of books published by the World Bank (World Bank). The collections presented include access to the Online Database Resources, World Development Indicators Online, Global Development Indicators Online, and the World Bank eLibrary for obtaining worldwide statistical data and other online publications. World Bank collections are served at the IDIS Corner (Indonesia Development Information Services) located in the Windows of the World (WOW) Room L1 Building, 1st floor, Universitas Gadjah Mada Library.
The Hatta Collection and the Rare Collection came from the private collection of the late Mr. Mohammad Hatta (First Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia) which was originally managed by the Hatta Foundation. Hatta’s collection consists of books and journals in various languages and fields such as politics, economics, society, literature, culture, and education. Based on the agreement between Gadjah Mada University and the Hatta Foundation number: 1898/P/KS/2006 dated 20 May 2006 the management of the Hatta Library was handed over to UGM which later became the Hatta Corner. The Hatta Collection and the Rare Collection occupy a room at the Hatta Corner in Building L6, 3rd floor, Gadjah Mada University Library.
The Hatta Collection and the UGM Library Rare Collection are served with the following conditions:
- The Hatta Collection and the Rare Collection are served closed; Collecting and returning collections are carried out by officers
- The Hatta Collection and the Rare Collection can only be read on the spot and not for lending
- The Hatta Collection and the Rare Collection whose physical condition has been severely damaged are stored in a special place and are not to be served to users except for the digital version (if they are available).
- The collection of digital versions is served for reading on the spot, not for downloading or copying
- Readers who wish to read collections that are in a severely damaged condition but whose digital version is not yet available can be served with special supervision
- Officers and librarians are required to treat the Hatta Collection and the Rare Collection with care to maintain their preservation.
